Turner Powertrain Systems Limited, founded in 1859 as a mechanical engineering company, once produced automobiles, tractors, marine engines and truck transmissions. In 1996 it was acquired by Caterpillar and today is a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., which manufactures and designs transmissions for Caterpillar family of off-road vehicles as well as other construction, agricultural, mining, and railroad equipment manufacturers, as an OEM.
Transmissions

The powertrain range is designed for engines from 67 hp to 181 hp and includes automatic and semi-automatic Powershift transmissions, Power Shuttle manual transmissions and hydrostatic transmissions found in Caterpillar backhoe loaders, small wheel loaders and telescopic handlers. And in machines from other manufacturers of telehandlers, rough terrain forklifts, backhoe loaders, dump trucks, agricultural sprayers, mining support vehicles, airport transporters and rail vehicles.
